Chromium Fluoride CrF3 products, namely three Chromium Fluoride CrF3 products, are inorganic compounds with chemical formula CrF3 and their various hydrates. Anhydrous tri-Chromium Fluoride CrF3 products are green crystals that are insoluble in common solvents, but their hydrates [Cr(H2O)6]F3 and [Cr(H2O)6]F3·3H2O are soluble in water. The trihydrate is green, while the hexahydrate is purple. Anhydrous salts sublime when heated to 1100–1200°C. Chromium Fluoride CrF3 products have molecular formula 108.99, green rhombohedral crystal, relative density 3.80, melting point 1000℃; CrF3 4H2O molecular formula 181.05, green crystalline powder, relative density 3.78; CrF3 9H2O molecular formula 271.13, green powder. All three are toxic, slightly soluble in water, soluble in hydrochloric acid, and insoluble in ethanol.
Chromium trichloride is heated to 600 ℃ in hydrogen fluoride flow to obtain anhydrous hydrate; hydrated tri-Chromium Fluoride CrF3 products can be obtained by reacting chromium hydroxide with hydrofluoric acid. Used as fluoride agent, moth repellant and wool fabric mordant, etc.
